CNBC Indonesia Awards 2026 Highlight Gold Sector Potential
CNBC Indonesia held the CNBC Indonesia Awards 2026: Best Gold Ecosystem in Jakarta to honor gold businesses that posted strong performance and helped the economy.
Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso called for collaboration to build a competitive, integrated, inclusive gold ecosystem.
He said gold remains a strategic asset amid global geopolitical and economic turbulence, serving as an investment and hedging tool while driving growth and adding industrial value.
Key Figures
Indonesia ships about $5 billion of gold each year and imports roughly $2 billion of gold bars, showing room for more domestic processing, refining, jewelry making, trade and financing.
Untapped gold in the population totals around 1,800 tons worth $252 billion, a reserve that could boost industry value, deepen finance and raise public welfare if integrated into the formal system.
Impact
Optimizing the existing gold stock could create new industrial value, strengthen the financial sector and improve people’s prosperity.
